Farming Manual.

01. What is this Season?

Kharif crops are grown during the monsoon months (June – October). These crops rely heavily on rainfall and warm weather for germination and growth.

02. Suitable Climate & Soil

  • Temperature 25°C - 35°C
  • Rainfall High / Monsoon Dependent
  • Ideal Soil Alluvial & Loamy
  • Key Regions Punjab, UP, MH, AP

03. Major Crops Grown

Rice

Requires standing water and high humidity (120-150 days).

Maize

Moderate water need; highly sensitive to waterlogging (90 days).

Cotton

Long duration crop; needs dry weather during harvesting (180 days).

04. Land Prep & Sowing

Ensure deep summer ploughing to kill soil pests. Use the Drilling Method for pulses and Transplantation for Rice.

Sowing Window: 15 June - 15 July

05. Water & Nutrients

Focus on NPK ratios of 4:2:1. During heavy rain, pause irrigation and check for nutrient leaching. Use Daincha as green manure.

06. Pest & Risk Control

Monitor for Stem Borers and Leaf Folders. High humidity triggers fungal blight. Maintain Lateral Drainage to prevent root rot during floods.

07. Harvesting & Storage

Harvest when grains turn golden-yellow. Reduce moisture level to 12-14% before storage to prevent mold and insect attack.
